Kim Kimball, Embodiment Coach for Women Done Disappearing
You're done making yourself small, and you know it. I spent years disappearing to keep everyone else comfortable. The work that brought me home to myself is the work I now do with you.
Hello, I'm Kim.
I'm an embodiment coach and life transition coach for women who've asked themselves "Where did I go?" and couldn't think their way to an answer.
Maybe you lost yourself in motherhood. Maybe at midlife when the life you built stopped fitting. Maybe in your work, your marriage, or when your faith collapsed and took your entire sense of self with it.
You've done therapy. You've read the books. You've made the pros and cons lists, and you're still asking the question.
Finding your way back can't be thought through. It has to be felt through.
My work helps you stay with yourself as something ends, listen to what your body already knows, and let your life reorganize around what's actually true.
The result isn't always a new job, relationship, or external identity.
It's an embodied sense of self you can return to, even when everything else feels unclear.
What Makes This Work Different
What I bring is deep training, lived experience, and eight years of guiding women through the kind of thresholds I've crossed myself.
Experience:
8+ years as a somatic coach
500+ clients guided through identity transitions
Hundreds of hours working specifically with women navigating thresholds—matrescence, midlife, career change, faith deconstruction, late diagnosis
What I notice in the work:
How urgency in your body feels different from genuine momentum, and why confusing the two leaves you exhausted.
Why moments of resistance aren't laziness but signals of where your system doesn't yet feel safe to move forward.
How endings can happen inside commitments that stay. A marriage that dissolves and is reborn. A career identity that falls away while you're still working. A faith that collapses while your devotion deepens.
This work is about learning to trust the intelligence of what's dissolving and what's emerging, and staying with yourself through the entire crossing.
My Story: From DPT to Somatic Coach
For 13 years, I worked as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and kept waiting to love it.
The back-to-back patients, fluorescent lights, and pressure to push through were never built for my body or pace. Eventually, I hit a breaking point.
I quit without a backup plan and spent four months backpacking solo through Southeast Asia and Europe. It was a full reset, a threshold I couldn't think my way through. I had to feel my way through.
That trip showed me something I hadn't been able to see while I was performing: sensitivity isn't a flaw, it's a signal. And when I finally listened to mine, it pointed toward a completely different way of living and leading.
Since then, I've crossed threshold after threshold.
I deconstructed my faith and lost the community that raised me, the beliefs that organized my entire worldview, the version of myself I thought was permanent. I had to rebuild from the ground up.
I became a mother and matrescence cracked me open in ways I couldn't anticipate. I had to learn to integrate who I was before with who I was becoming, without erasing either version.
Midlife arrived and the life I'd carefully built stopped fitting. My body started refusing to perform. I had to let the old identity dissolve and trust what wanted to emerge.
My marriage had to dissolve and be reborn (same person, entirely new relationship). I learned that endings can happen inside a commitment that stays.
A health scare brought me close to my own fragility and clarified what actually matters.
Each threshold taught me what I now bring to this work: a devotion to living in deep congruence with life itself.
That's what I do now as a life transition coach. I guide women through the kind of identity work I've lived myself.
My Training & Teachers
My work weaves together somatics, nervous system tools, parts work (IFS), and embodied leadership frameworks, grounded in over 15 years of training and mentorship.
Formal training:
Doctorate in Physical Therapy (Virginia Commonwealth University, 2009)
ICF-accredited coaching certification (Credentialed Life Coach Collective, 2018)
PCC (Professional Certified Coach) certification in process with the ICF
Ongoing specialization in somatic attachment, trauma-informed growth, nervous system regulation, and unshaming practices
Teachers & mentors who've shaped my work:
I've studied with and been mentored by Rachael Maddox, David Bedrick, Madison Morrigan, Dr. Valerie Rein, Kate Swoboda, Simone Seol, and others who've profoundly shaped how I see leadership, healing, and identity transformation.
A deep bow of gratitude to each of them.
This ongoing work continues to expand how I guide women through their own thresholds.
A little more about me…
-
Travel is my absolute favorite thing. I love experiencing new cultures, meeting locals and going off the beaten path. I’ve backpacked through 44 countries across South America, Southeast Asia and Europe. And, between college and my doctorate, I lived in southern Spain for a year. It’s now my home away from home — I’d love to move back someday!
-
I have such fond memories of the sounds of Spanish being spoken in my family home. And I always loved visiting my grandmother, who would cook ropa vieja, rice and beans, sometimes platanos too, and then make arroz con leche specifically for me for dessert. My ethnicity, roots, and preserving my culture are important to me.
-
I never envisioned becoming a mom over 35. The journey into matrescence stripped me of so many identities; adjusting to life as a mom of a highly sensitive boy (as a highly sensitive, neurodivergent person myself) felt like being ground down to the very foundation of my being. Yet I’ve enjoyed the wisdom I have to offer with a later start.
-
I’m a creative at heart — at times I’ve been moved to tears reading a beautiful poem or seeing a spectacular piece of art. My favorite poem is The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer, which I feel conveys my heart, essence and what I stand for, both in my own life and my work with clients.
